Assignment for February 3
We have begun to read Brutal Imagination by Cornelius Eady (below you will find the file). For Thursday, you will read the first chapter (to page 23). This set of poems is designed to be read as one story. In 1994, Susan Smith, a white mother from South Carolina, murdered her two children. She tried to say that her car had been hijacked and her children kidnapped by a black man.
In class, we read through the first few poems and talked about them. The assignment for Thursday is also below. Please complete this assignment and bring your work to class on Thursday. We are in person in Hunt 101.
